Bahamian Squall: Two First-Timers Reward the Faithful

In a span of two days, Bahamian Squall picked up winners No. 15 and 16, both first-time starters who scored in convincing fashion and rewarded their backers with juicy mutuels.

Tator Made – The 3-year-old filly bred by Taylor Smith made her debut in a $29,400 maiden special going 4 1/2 furlongs at Charles Town. She was off sixth, but Andre Ramgeet quickly rushed her up to second on the rail and she went after the pace-setter on the turn. It was no contest in the lane and Tator Made cruised home by six lengths in :52.64. Despite a final work of :36 seconds flat for three furlongs, second best of 20 for the day, she paid $30 and earned a check for $17,397.

Foggy Note – Owned by attorney David Romanik, trainer Ron Spatz and her breeder, Ocala’s SCF Farm, the 3-year-old filly made a smart inside run from the turn home with Luca Panici and drew off to score by two lengths. She collected $11,600 for the trio after getting 5 1/2 furlongs on the Tapeta surface in 1:04.37 and lit up the board at $23.40.
