Conrado Wins for 9th Time with Help from the Stewards

Conrado has done it again. The 5-year-old First Dude gelding who can’t significantly add to his earnings because he campaigns at purse-poor Canadian venues, won for the ninth time on Sunday at Lethbridge, this one with the help of the stewards.

Larris Allen was in the irons for the six-furlong allowance test and he took Conrado off the pace right off the bat, the gelding bred by Joe Arboritanza sitting fifth and last down the backstretch. When Conrado was making a strong stretch run, he was fouled by the 7/10 favorite, Crown Ruler, who crossed the line first and was disqualified and placed second.

Conrado raised his eye-catching record to 9-9-4 in 36 starts, but he’s only earned $79,295 due to the purse structure of the lower-level tracks at which he’s been competing.
