First Dude Roars Past $2 Million

    Several Individual successes over the weekend vaulted First Dude over the $2 million mark in 2022 progeny earnings, the seventh straight year the son of Stephen Got Even has accomplished the milestone. 

    CHARLIE’S WISH: The 2-year-old filly captured her career debut on Oct. 1, and came right back for a second-place finish in the $75,000 Juvenile Fillies Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Owned and bred by John Ropes, Charlie’s Wish was the 5/2 third choice in the race at seven furlongs, which went in 1:24.83. She collected a check of $11,880, raising her two-race total to $35,880. 

    RILEY’S DUDE: The 4-year-old gelding broke a losing streak dating back to his last victory in August of 2021, and is now 3-5-2 in 19 starts with a bank account of $119,130 after earning $11,250 for his victory by three-quarters of a length. He never left the rail under Eduviel Ignacio, came from seven lengths back to score in 1:11.46, and paid $2.60. 

    ORANGE THEORY: The $3,000 OBS October purchase won the $50,000 Lynn Chouinard Founders Distaff Stakes at Century Mile by three-quarters under Renaldo Cumberpatch. The 4-year-old filly owned and bred by William P. Sorren has won three of her last four at Century and is 6-3-6 in 27 lifetime starts. She earned $30,000 in Canadian cash and $22,049 U. S., and her career total reached $83,547. After posting a career best 95 ‘E’ speed rating in her last she followed up with a 94 in this one. She raced 1 1/8 miles in 1:50.67 and paid $25.40. 

  When the smoke cleared, First Dude’s earnings for 2022 climbed to $2,009,572.
