Full Brother to Mama Joyce Surpasses $100,000 with 4th Victory

Icy Dude passed the $100,000 mark in earnings at Parx Racing yesterday, benefitting from a heady, rail-skimming ride by Jeremy Laprida, and becoming First Dude’s 14th winner of 2022.

Laprida took Icy Dude away in mid-pack on the inside and parked him there down the backstretch. He then picked off horses one by one without even having to utilize the two path, and that patience paid off when the rail opened up at the top of the stretch and the gelding bred by Donald Dizney bolted through and left his rivals gasping.

In the stretch, Icy Dude drifted out to mid-track and reached the wire nearly four lengths in front, clocked in 1:44.59 for the one mile and 70 yards.  He paid $23.80 and collected a check for $22,800, increasing his total to $111,535 on a record of 4-7-1 in 23 tries. He received an Equibase ‘E’ speed figure of 96, second best of his career.

The 5-year-old gelding by First Dude is out of the Gone West mare Harbin, and is a full brother to Double Diamond broodmare Mama Joyce. She was a seven-time winner and is No. 15 on the stallion’s earnings list with a bank account of $235,619. Mama Joyce has one foal, a 3-year-old Afleet Alex colt named B G Lee, who is breezing at Double Diamond in preparation for his first start.
