Stretch Runner Lives Up to His Name for 4th Victory

It’s always intriguing when a horse lives up to its name, and Stretch Runner lived up to his in spades at Presque Isle Downs yesterday.

The 5-year-old gelding by Bahamian Squall was aided by a pair of scratches in the six-furlong race over the all-weather track, with less traffic making it that much easier for closers to get the job done. Pablo Morales had Stretch Runner sitting last down the backstretch, six lengths behind the early speed. The gelding began to cut into the margin on the turn, and Stretch Runner ran over his remaining three rivals late to win by a length.

It was the fourth victory in 14 starts for the gelding bred by Nora  Imprescia Coovert, and was worth $9,600. He covered the six furlongs in 1:12.07 while becoming Bahamian Squall’s 16th winner of 2022.
