Bahama Pearl is a Horse for the Monmouth Park Course

Bahama Pearl returned to the track where she has enjoyed her greatest success yesterday, and it proved to be the right medicine for the daughter of Bahamian Squall.

The 6-year-old mare bred by Shade Tree Thoroughbreds and Joyce Corwin spent last summer at Monmouth Park and never missed the top 3, going 1-2-5 in eight starts. In her first race back, with Pedro Cotto Jr. riding, Bahama Pearl loved the sloppy going and scored her fourth career victory.

Cotto sent her out for the lead in the 5 1/2-furlong race that came off the turf, and Bahama Pearl did the rest, going wire-to-wire and winning by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:06.19. She became her sire’s 12th winner of 2023 and paid $14.60, while earning a check for $16,800 and increasing her bank account to $111,347 on a record of 4-6-6 in 32 starts.
