Berks Scores at Delaware Park for 4th in a Row

Berks’ current winning streak reached four straight (and 5 of the last 6) with a game victory in a $50,000 allowance race on the grass yesterday at Delaware Park. The 4-year-old gelding by First Dude is one of just a few runners to have five victories thus far halfway through the 2023 season.

Carrying high-weight of 124 pounds, Jaime Rodriguez sent Berks right to the lead and the gelding controlled the pace for the entire 7 1/2 furlongs, finally winning by the slimmest of margins with the camera needed to decide the outcome. The Maryland-bred gelding collected $30,000 and raised his career total to $277,080, moving him to No. 15 on First Dude’s $200,000-and-up list. He paid $3.60 and increased his impressive record to 9-1-2 in 20 starts.

In his last two starts, Berks has received Equibase ‘E’ speed figures of 103 and 104, the two best of his career.
