Charlie’s Wish Impresses – at Odds of 3/10

First Dude has unveiled another budding star – Charlie’s Wish, who raised her record to 2-2-1 in six starts with a victory yesterday in a $54,000 allowance race at Gulfstream Park.

The 3-year-old filly bred by Three Gin Guys Stable became her sire’s 19th winner of 2023 and added $32,400 to her bank account, which has now reached $87,220, an average of $14,536 per race.

Paco Lopez was aboard the filly, who was off third from the rail in the six-furlong test, and Paco held her there patiently as the two leaders reeled off a :22.97 quarter and :46.29 half. He then wheeled her off the inside at the top of the stretch and she coasted to the wire to win with plenty left, clocked in 1:10.75. Charlie’s Wish paid $2.60 and earned her highest Equibase ‘E’ speed figure – an 83.

First Dude is less than $76,000 away from hitting the $24 million mark in lifetime progeny earnings.
