First Dude Filly and Gelding Post ‘E’ Bests in Canada

A pair of First Dudes racing in different parts of Canada have combined to post an eye-opening record of 5-2-0 in seven starts this year.

WOODBINE – Too Much Vino left Gulfstream Park after recording four straight seconds, then a maiden-breaking victory, and has continued her good form across the border with a first, a second and another first.

In her latest, the 3-year-old filly bred by Flying Finish Farm was off last with Ryan Munger in a seven-furlong race over the Tapeta surface, made a monster three-wide move after the first quarter, then ran over the leader in the stretch to score by 3 1/2 lengths, clocked in 1:24.93 and paying $4.70. She earned $23,040 in Canadian funds, $16,947 in U. S. dollars, and received her best Equibase ‘E’ speed figure in her 10 starts – an 80 – while raising her career record to 3-5-0.

CENTURY MILE – Impacto didn’t race at two or three, making his debut at Tampa Bay Downs last month a winning one. The 4-year-old gelding bred by Jose Miguel Contreras then shipped to the track next to the Edmonton Airport and in the span of 13 days recorded a second and a first.

Yesterday, with Alexander Marti in the saddle, Impacto broke out on the lead in the race at six furlongs, put up blazing fractions of :21.70, :44.32 and :56.33, and coasted home by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:08.84, just a little more than one second off the track record. He paid $6.20, collected $8,356 in U. S. dollars and received his best Equibase ‘E’ speed figure for the effort, a 99.
