Ready to Runaway Surpasses $500,000 in Canterbury Laugher

With her stablemate and nemesis – Click Bait – not in the race, Minnesota-bred Ready to Runaway reached new heights at Canterbury Park last night, winning a $32,000 allowance optional claimer and leaving track announcer Paul Allen gushing.

As the 6-year-old daughter of First Dude was cruising down the stretch in front by daylight in the race at one mile, Allen chimed in with, “(Roimes) Chirinos pushes the button on Ready to Runaway . . . . . Ready to Runaway is under a triple hammerlock at the wire.”

The fabulous mare who is Canterbury’s all-time money leader added $24,900 to her bankroll, increasing it to $510,455 on an eye-opening record of 13-7-3 in 25 starts. The $4,000 Minnesota August yearling in 2017 became the fifth runner by First Dude to pass the half-million mark.

Chirinos broke Ready to Runaway on top, and she coasted past the furlong markers in :23.92, :46.77, 1:10.65 and 1:23.40, with 6/5  second choice Street of Dreams glued to her shoulder. In the final sixteenth, Ready to Runaway ran away and hid, prevailing by 7 1/4 lengths in 1:36.68, paying $3.80 and becoming winner No. 26 for her sire this season.
